These are a pair of special episodes meant to fill in some of the holes-it's been more than a year since we saw what happened with Rue, Nate, Jules, and the rest of the gang (thanks to COVID-19), and these episodes are not canonically Season 2 they're just meant to catch us up until the real Season 2 finally debuts (production is expected to begin later this year). Remember, as the marketing for the Euphoria special episodes says: THIS IS NOT SEASON 2.

The music remains that same mix of original and curated, and it works to perfection with the sex, drugs, and teen drama we see on screen. That remains the case in the show's two special episodes, the first coming at the end of 2020 and the second coming late in January of 2021 the two parts are meant to bridge the gap between Season 1, which wrapped up in fall 2019, and Season 2, which is expected to land some time in 2021. But one of the absolute essentials to the show's success is its one-of-a-kind soundtrack original music by Labrinth and expertly-curated songs make the show's stylized drama feel like Euphoria episode-in and episode-out, and like nothing else on TV. There's a lot to love about Euphoria, from the nuanced, layered, and interesting storylines, to the stunning visuals and incredible performances (let us not forget: Zendaya won the god damn Emmy for her leading role in Season 1). The episode will air on HBO and be available to stream on HBO Max.
